Child Lures School Program for K-5

This program is designed to teach children how to protect themselves against sexual predators.  The developer of the program, Ken Wooden, interviewed convicted pedophiles and discovered common “lures” used to entice kids from safety.  The program asserts that most people are good and kind but we have to protect our kids from people that might want to hurt them.  Parents are encouraged and most welcome to attend with your children.  Please extend an invitation to any family in the community; it is free and open to the public.

Protecting God’s Children

The parishes of St. Anne, Sts. Francis Xavier & Paul the Apostle and St.Thomas Aquinas, in conjunction with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland (RCDP) are taking steps to protect our children. You may have heard about the "Protecting God’s Children" program. The Diocese implemented this program in 2002.  All adults that will be working with children or vulnerable adults must:

  • Attend the Protecting God’s Children training

  • Fill out the Volunteer Application including the State of Maine Dept. of Human Services release forms

  • Read the RCDP Code of Ethics and sign the acknowledgement agreeing to abide by those policies

  • The RCDP will complete a background check

Employees and volunteers must complete ALL of the above-mentioned items. They are not allowed to volunteer in the classroom or chaperone, or be employed by the parish until all are completed and the RCDP has completed the background check. All employees and volunteers must complete this training, even if you have had similar training or have had a background check completed through the State of Maine, or a school district.

Please contact the Jane Young, Parish Life Coordinator, at the parish office to register. Phone 924-7104 during business hours or email: Jane.Young@portlanddiocese.org
